Most states in the United States have pretty much the same rules of what you have to do when you need to get a marriage license. Each state will have a few things that are a bit different from the general rules. So if you reside in Wyoming and are planning to get married, this is what you need to bring with you.
First of course you will need to file for a marriage license and receive it. It’s what will allow you to get legally married in the state of Wyoming. Make sure you go to the clerk or court and find out the specifics in other states. You should try and get the marriage license about a month before you are planning your ceremony. What you will need is your birth certificate, tax information, and other documents that are official. Make sure that you don’t apply for the license too early.
Of course the birth certificate will show your age, which in most states will need to be 18, but there are some exceptions again. You will need to apply with your future spouse, and need to provide any information to prove that you are not currently married, and if you have been married that you are in fact divorced now. Or if so be it, a death certificate must be shown in case of your late spouse’s death. You will also be required to pay a small fee. Make sure you will have two people at your wedding to serve as the witnesses. Plus the bride will need to know what her married name is prior to signing the marriage certificate. That name will need to be written on the application.
You will need to make sure that after the ceremony you have the paper signed by a judge or justice of the peace, or even your pastor. When filling out the application you will need to know the full names of your parents plus where they were born, and your mother’s maiden name. You do not have to be a resident of Wyoming to apply for a license. Know your parents full names, birth places, and mother’s maiden name. You have no waiting period in the state of Wyoming, and no blood tests are required to be taken either. You can marry under the age of 16 if you have a court order, otherwise you must be 18 or older.
Proxy marriages are not allowed and common law marriages are not considered law in the case of Wyoming state laws. Cousins are not allowed to marry, and the couples that are being married must be of opposite sex.
Pretty much the same as most other states in the United States, except the waiting period and of course no blood test. These two things will slow down some people when they are trying to get married, but most of the time it is just a slight slow down to the day of your marriage.
